DETROIT -- Former Michigan State basketball player Keith Appling is in trouble again with police.Detroit police say Appling was arrested Sunday night after he drove away from a traffic stop. Sgt. Mike Woody says a gun was found in a bag on the side of the road.Its Applings third encounter with Detroit-area police since spring. Gun charges are pending in two separate cases in Dearborn and Detroit.Defense attorney Cyril Hall says Appling pulled away from police to get to a safe spot to deal with officers.He says Appling disputes that he had a weapon.
