Girard has four goals and 16 assists in 28 games for Baie-Comeau of the QMJHL this season. The 19-year-old reacted to the news as best as he could. "Well its tough, you know, its just a couple of days before the tournament starts, but its a decision they had to make," said Girard. The forward was asked by TSNs Mark Masters if he could have done anything different along the way. "Im happy about how I did, but I wasnt in the plans and its okay. They have a great team. I respect their decision," Girard said. On Friday, Canada cut forward Hunter Shinkaruk and defenceman Damon Severson. Sutter took 25 players overseas for the pre-tournament games with plans to cut three of them before Thursdays tournament opener. There are no cuts in goal, as Zachary Fucale and returning netminder Jake Paterson have already earned spots on the team. Sutter did not invite a third goalie to camp.
