St Kilda are officially looking for a new captain with coach Alan Richardson confirming long-serving Nick Riewoldt will step down at the end of the season.Assuming he plays the final two rounds, Riewoldt will hand over the reins having captained the club in 220 matches - just six fewer than the AFLs longest-serving skipper of all time, Carltons Stephen Kernahan. The 33-year-old has previously spoken of his desire to mentor a younger onfield leader while still playing and Richardson confirmed on Friday the club would head in that direction. From a leadership point of view, for our club to grow, its time for someone else to take that mantle and be our next captain, he said. And we need Rooey to support that and not only has he supported that hes also been driving that.Riewoldt signed a contract extension to play on next season earlier this year.Jack Steven, Jarryn Geary and David Armitage are considered leading candidates to take over but Richardson wouldnt be drawn on the likely successor.Theres quite a number of impressive people - its not that theres (just one) person there, its that theres a number of people there (in contention), he said. And theyre not going to be Nick Riewoldt straight away - theres not too many that are - and we think that while Nicks still playing its important to have him supporting whoever that next person is.Nick is of the same opinion - hes been incredibly selfless in that space.A new skipper wont be announced until the eve of the clubs practice game campaign next year. The Saints take on Richmond at the MCG on Saturday, with Jason Holmes, Jack Lonie and Geary added to the side beaten by Sydney.Darren Minchington was dropped, while Sam Fisher (hamstring) and Tom Hickey (calf) were injured against the Swans.Richardson admits its unlikely Hickey will play again this season but says Fisher is a chance to make it back for round 23.Mike McGlinchey Youth Jersey .25 million option on reliever Jose Veras. While Reedie accepts there were serious problems on the ground, he does not believe the effort was fundamentally undermined. The IOC, who are responsible for the whole anti-doping effort at Olympic Games, made substantial efforts and they got through it, he said. There were major issues, however - logical issues - particularly on sample collections, and thats disappointing. What was the real problem was the business of sample collecting - tracing athletes to find out where they were. There were a number of major issues in Brazil. One was a lack of money. Secondly there was a lack of manpower and some of that worked its way through to the sample-collection process. That is regrettable. You simply had to make the process work as best you could. But, at the end of the day, our independent reports said that while it was disappointing, in general the integrity of the process was not undermined. The report does concede there were some outstanding efforts and a phrase I think they used was enormous resourcefulness and goodwill of some key doping personnel who actually made the system work. They got around 90 per cent of the projected numbers of sample collections. Watch NOW TV Watch Sky Sports for just £6.dddddddddddd99. No contract. Reedie explained that one of the key issues related to athlete chaperones, who the report claims were provided with inadequate training and information.Athletes are called for sample collection by chaperones and unfortunately quite a large number of the planned chaperones either werent trained properly or some didnt even turn up, he said.So it was a manpower problem and then the details of how you find people in the village. You would go back later in the day and see if you could find them. You would keep doing it unless you didnt have the manpower to find them. Sebastian Coe is proposing to introduce Integrity Unit for athletics Meanwhile, IAAF president Sebastian Coe admits the reports alleging serious drug-test failings at Rio made for uncomfortable reading. The only thing I would say is I welcome reports like that, sometimes they are uncomfortable reading, but I would rather have those sorts of observations, said Coe, who is proposing to introduce an independent Athletics Integrity Unit, which will be responsible for doping matters, taking powers away from national associations. The testing itself is independent, he said. I think where we have fallen foul is around results management. That all too often has had national interest involved. We cannot survive as a sport unless clean athletes absolutely feel that they have the full force of a federation behind their legitimate attempts to be the best they can possibly be. Thats non-negotiable.Also See:Results & Medal TablePhoto GalleriesTeam GB ' ' '
